Who We Are
Why Sport,
Money and AI
Fundamental Sports Labs (FSL) is a Los Angeles nonprofit, a 501(c)(3) founded in 2025. FSL doesn't run its own leagues or events. Instead, in 2027 it will pilot a set of up to six sessions inside the programs people already attend, starting with youth programs such as after-school programs, rec centers, clubs and adaptive programs in South LA and Inglewood.
FSL's founder is a coach, PE teacher and financial coach who has taught physical education at View Park Preparatory, run basketball training camps for kids and directed recreation programs.
We saw what sports could do when paired with real-world skills. The discipline of practice. The accountability of a team. The resilience that comes from losing and getting back up. These aren't just athletic lessons — they're life lessons. And too many young people only got them during the season.
So FSL will bring those lessons to where people already play. Each session starts with the sport players already play. Then they use their own game to learn money skills, how to question AI, how to handle pressure and what jobs exist around sports and tech. Trained, screened college students will help teach, and the program's own staff will always stay in the room. In the youth pilot, kids will never open AI accounts, and families will never pay.

From the Founder
I've spent fifteen years on fields, in gyms, and in classrooms across Los Angeles — as a coach, a PE teacher, and a financial coach — and I kept seeing the same thing: talent everywhere, access nowhere. Fundamental Sports Labs is my answer.
